Professional Service Coordinator Certificate Program
Comprehensive Examination Guidelines
All certificate candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree or five years of experience in social services or a related field.
All Comprehensive Examination candidates are required to have successfully completed eight core Modules and six elective Modules to earn the Professional Service Coordinator designation from the American Association of Service Coordinators. Additionally:
- Proof of the highest level of education (copy of diploma, transcript, confirmation letter from institution, etc.) must be provided prior to the examination registration date.
Those who do not possess a bachelor's degree must submit a resume and documentation of a minimum of five years of paid employment in social services or a related health care field on behalf of older adults and/or families (i.e., serving clients and fulfilling the needs of the population served). Experience in social services or a related health care field includes, but is not limited to, case management, senior activities programming, long-term care, health and wellness programming, adult and/or child day care programming. AASC has the option to determine whether the experience is eligible.
- The Exam Fee of $175.00 (AASC Members) or $225 (Non-Members) must be paid prior to completing the Exam.
- Candidates may take up to two hours to complete the examination unless special accommodations have been arranged in advance.
- Those who have special testing needs (more time, reader, etc.) will receive accommodations as needed, if they have directed a request to Linda Mauger, at Ohio State, 614-293-8031 or mauger.10@osu.edu, prior to the testing date.
- The Exam is based on the Core Modules of the Professional Service Coordinator Program, and all program participants are given ongoing access to the on-line modules for review purposes prior to taking the Exam.
- The exam consists of 80 questions, all of which are worth 1 point. You must get 80% (64 correct) to "pass" the exam.
- Examination results will be forwarded to the address specified by the candidate 4-6 weeks following the examination date.
- All candidates must be members of the American Association of Service Coordinators prior to receiving the Professional Service Coordinator designation from AASC.
